workshops |

We
welcome groups between 6 and 12 members to stay in the centre for
a minimum of two nights to one month. If the stay is only for two
to three nights, the stay can be made interesting with the performance
of a Kathakali on the first night, besides attending workshops of
five or six art forms on the second day.
If the stay is for a minimum of one week, every group member can
chose two art forms and attend workshops just like any normal student
in the centre. |

| A
Cultural Week |
| |
The cultural week will be made up by the performance of a distinct
Art form of Kerala every evening of a week. This performance can
last for two to four hours. Unlike in any other performance, here
a very detailed demonstration of the art form will be given to the
participants by the same performing artists, well before the performance,
together with brief printed notes about the art form. However, in
certain cases, where a demonstration is not needed, detailed explanations
will be delivered just before the performance. In this case too,
brief printed notes about the art forms will be given to the spectators.
On all the seven days of the proposed cultural week, just before
the main performance, a short performance of a different art form
also will be organised. This short performance can last for 30 -
45 minutes.

It
is to be noted that, except for a few arts like Kathakali, Karnatic
Music Concert and Classical Dances, most of the art forms are
seldom available for viewing, for a visitor to Kerala. Some
of the arts are strange even for Keralites. |
| # |
The
cultural week will give a unique opportunity to witness some
of the rare art forms, in the same stage within 7 days, without
compromising on their authenticity. |
| # |
The
demonstrations and explanations will help the participants for
the better understanding of the art form. |
| # |
The
most attractive aspect is that the performances takes place
in the same place, where the participants are staying. Hence,
unlike in any other program, this gives them a unique opportunity
for watching and mingling with the artists from the time they
arrive at the venue. |
| # |
Furthermore,
guests can also participate in one workshop a day in the morning,
every day. They can choose the art form of their interest from
the usual arts forms offered at VKV. |
